Missed Call Alert FAQ

Q. App World shows there is a new version of Missed Call Alert, but when try to upgrade I get an error that "Missed Call Alert is not available on App World". Why?

A.BlackBerry Customer Support suggests to upgrade to the latest version of the BlackBerry App World client, 1.1.0.20. This version resolved some of the upgrade/download problems reported by users.

Q. I had to replace my BlackBerry, how do download and/or get a new activation code?

A. The activation keys are based on the PIN for your BlackBerry.

If you purchased from our website, Mobihand or CrackBerry:
You can log into your account (Click here) and change your device PIN and get a new activation code and re-download your software. If you do not have an account, then you can create one, just make sure and use the same email address that you used when you purchased the software.

If your purchase from BlackBerry App World:
  • Open App World on your new phone
  • Press menu key and select My World
  • Press menu key and select Log In
  • When prompted enter your PayPal info and select Log in
  • Once App World sync your My World, you should see your purchased applications and can install them again without charge

Q. Why don't I hear an alert?

A. RIM sets all new profile alerts to silent by default. You should configure your alert tone or vibrate settings to your preferences.

Q. How do I change the alert tone or vibrate settings?

A. To change the alert tone settings:
  • From the home screen select Profiles icon
  • Select Advanced
  • Select Normal (or other profile you wish to change)
  • Select Missed Call Alert
  • Configure to your preference
    (Note: you might want to change "Out of Holster" from none)

  • To change the alert tone settings for BlackBerry® Storm™ or Tour™:
  • From the home screen select Sounds icon
  • Select Set Ring Tone/Alerts
  • Expand Other
  • Select Missed Call Alert
  • Configure to your preference
    (Note: you might want to change "Out of Holster" from none)
  • Q. How do I change the frequency of the alert?

    A. To change the frequency of the alert:
  • From the home screen select the Options icon
  • Select Missed Call Alert
  • Modify Repeat alert every to your preference
  • Q. I had my phone replaced. How do I reinstall Missed Call Alert?

    A. You should be able to re-install the application from the site where you bought Missed Call Alert.

    Q. I don't see an icon for Missed Call Alert. Did it not install?

    A. Missed Call Alert does not create an application icon; it integrates with the profiles and options icons of your BlackBerry® smartphone.

    Q. Will Missed Call Alert work for text/email/BlackBerry Messenger as well?

    A. No, Missed Call Alert will only alert for missed phone calls. We are working on another application to handle missed messages.

    Q. Why don't I see Missed Call Alert in Sound profiles after re-installing the application?

    A. There is a defect in Blackberry 4.7 OS that causes custom alerts to not display when installed a second time. Although you don't see the alert listed, it should still be using your previous settings. It seems to just be hidden. Deleting the application and installing again sometime resolves the issue. It might take several re-installs/reboots to get the profile to display again.

    Q. Why do I still see the Demo version after buying Missed Call Alert?

    A. The demo version will uninstall itself the next time you reset your phone.

    Q. Why don't I hear an alert when my Profile is set to Phone Calls Only?

    A. The Phone Calls Only profile disables all other alerts including Missed Call Alert. If you want to have only Phone Call and Missed Call Alert active, you should create a custom profile.

  • For Storm: In Landscape mode, press and hold the !?123 button to enable numlock and type "/"/

  • Change the Min log level value to Debug Info
  • Select Close to save your change

  • To view the debug logs from the Blackberry Home screen:
  • From the home screen press and hold the ALT key and type LGLG.

  • Filter the Event log to show only Missed Call Alert events
  • With the Event Log open
  • Press menu button
  • Select Options
  • Move the focus to the off off Min log level
  • Press menu button
  • Select Hide all types
  • Scroll down the item list and highlight Missed Call Alert
  • Choose Toggle Filter in order to check Missed Call Alert
  • Press menu button
  • Select Save
  • Now you should see only Missed Call Alert events


  • Copy and email Missed Call Alert events to support
  • Press menu button
  • Select Copy Day's Contents
  • When prompts choose Filtered events only
  • Open you email and create a new message

  • Q. How do I find my operating systems (OS) version and device type?

    A.The OS version and device type are location in the BlackBerry about screen
  • From the home screen select Options icon
  • Select About
  • The first line contains the device type (i.e. BlackBerry® 9630)
  • The third line contains the OS version (i.e. v4.7.1.40 (Platform 4.1.0.40))

  • Q. How to uninstall Missed Call Alert on the BlackBerry smartphone?

    A.To uninstall Missed Call Alert on the BlackBerry smartphone, perform the following procedure on the BlackBerry smartphone:
  • From the home screen select Options icon
  • Select Advanced Options
  • Select Applications
  • Choose Missed Call Alert
  • Select Delete
  • When prompted to restart the BlackBerry smartphone, select Yes.
